Silat al-Raḥim 360 — keeping ties, and keeping limits
What ṣilat al-raḥim is, who it includes, ties that are not returned, qaṭʿ al-raḥim, boundaries kept for safety, difficult relatives, and reconciliation that is refused.
Everything here concerns ordinary difficulty between people of goodwill. Oppression is different. Physical violence, threats, sustained intimidation, financial exploitation, or the systematic crushing of a person’s dignity is ẓulm — which Allah forbids and never commands anyone to endure in the name of patience. Distance kept for your safety is not qaṭʿ al-raḥim, and nothing on this page may be used to bring you back within reach of someone who is harming you. Where there is violence or coercive control, mediation is the wrong tool — reach safety first, then a trusted person, a qualified counsellor and upright scholars. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
The scholars genuinely differ on how far raḥim extends; no single position is presented here as a verdict.
