Nikah 360 — married life

The foundations of married life — each with understanding, Qurʾān & Hadith, key points, a common misconception and reflection.

When it is abuse, not ordinary conflict

Everything here concerns ordinary disagreement between people of goodwill. Abuse is different and must not be confused with it. Physical violence, threats, sustained intimidation, or the systematic crushing of a person’s dignity is oppression (ẓulm), which Allah forbids and never commands anyone to endure in the name of patience. If you or someone in your household is being harmed, prioritise safety first — reach a safe place, and confide in trustworthy family, a qualified counsellor, and knowledgeable, upright scholars who can advise on your specific situation. Mediation is not appropriate in that situation. This is a matter for real people who know your case, not a page.

This section is about the adab and the relationship. It decides no one’s personal question of ṭalāq, khulʿ, ʿiddah, maintenance or custody — those belong to a qualified scholar.

For your own situation

This page is general guidance, not a ruling for your case.

It cannot weigh the facts of your situation — the exact words said, the people involved, the law where you live. Put your question to a qualified scholar before acting on it.

  • Divorce, inheritance and wills also have legal effects where you live. Speak to a local Islamic court, family court or lawyer as well — a web page or an online answer cannot register, enforce or protect anything.

Questions sent here are reviewed by our team and answers can take time. We do not rule on private disputes online — for those, go to a scholar or court near you.
